Photos from the El Segundo Brewing Co. 12th Anniversary

These photos were taken Saturday afternoon, May 13, at El Segundo Brewing Company in El Segundo, where they held their 12th anniversary. The low-key event featured the release of two high-octane brews and food provided by Gochu Gang Korean BBQ.

So yeah, I initially described the event as low-key, but it might better be described as a reunion of long time ESBC fans. While they may not have had multiple food trucks and live music, they did have 20 high quality El Segundo Brewing beers on tap, including their two high-octane anniversary brews; Greetings From El Segundo TIPA (11% ABV) and Lost in the Mail QIPA (13.2 ABV), which were also released in cans. LA Ale Works Celebrates 6ish Years

These photos were taken Saturday at Los Angeles Ale Works, in Hawthorne, where they celebrated their 6ish anniversary. The family and dog friendly event featured DJs, food, live music, a balloon artist, and an anniversary beer.

While I was there, music was provided by DJ Hash Mills and two tribute bands; The Walrus, a Beatles tribute band, and The Burning Doors, a Doors tribute band. Food was available from The Shrimp and Taco Stop, Proudly Serving LA, Cali Crizp, and La Chica Cupcakes. The Ballusionist provided balloon art for the youngsters and the young at heart. Photos of Claudia’s Birthday Party at King Harbor

These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at the King Harbor Brewing Company’s tasting room in Redondo Beach, where several dozen friends and family of Claudia, of Claudia and Juan fame, gathered to celebrate Claudia’s birthday.

Guests were treated to plenty of King Harbor Brewing’s tasty brews, wine, all you could eat tacos from El Chiapas Tacos, ballads, dancing, and birthday cake. It was pretty obvious that a fun time was had by all.

Happy birthday, Claudia; I hope you have a great year. Cheers! Continue reading

El Segundo Brewing 11th Anniversary Photos

These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at El Segundo Brewing Company, in El Segundo, where they celebrated their 11th anniversary. The day featured an anniversary beer, a couple can releases, and the Something Good LA food truck. Coincidentally, it was also the ninth anniversary of the launch of CraftBeerGuy.com.

It was a pretty hot day at the beach, and the throngs that came to help celebrate El Segundo Brewing’s milestone took full advantage of any shady spot they could find. Continue reading

Paperback Brewing First Anniversary Photos

These photos were taken Sunday afternoon at Paperback Brewing Company in Glendale, where they not only celebrated their official grand opening, but their one year anniversary at the same time. So yeah, you read that right; it is their one year anniversary and they are just now officially open to the public. COVID strikes again.

If you will recall, last year the county let breweries open for a minute before they shut them down again; that is when Paperback was planning on opening to the public. Instead of filling their tasting room with customers like they had planned, they hooked up with a mobile canning unit and sold beer to go in cans and growlers. In fact, my first experience with Paperback was at a couple of the COVID can exchanges I have been putting on. When Paperback sent me a press release about their official opening to the public I decided to head over for what I discovered was also their one year anniversary. Continue reading

Marcus and Alexis, both turned 30 last month, and they are celebrating five years of wedded bliss this month, so family members decided to throw a little soiree for them while they served their delicious tacos, mulitas, quesadilla, nachos, and esquite to the friends, family, and beer drinkers that had assembled at King Harbor Brewing.

Common Space Brewery 3rd Anniversary Photos

These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at Common Space Brewery in Hawthorne, where they celebrated their third anniversary with an actual in-person event at the production brewery’s tasting room and patios setup outside.

Prior to today, the last time I attended a brewery’s anniversary was the Brouwerij West 4th anniversary in February 2020; that’s a long time considering how many brewery anniversary parties we have around here usually. Continue reading

South Bay Breweries Begin Reopening – Phase 2 Day 1

These photos were taken Saturday, May 30 at San Pedro Brewing Company, Scholb Premium Ales, and Absolution Brewing Company as breweries in the South Bay began reopening under Phase 2 of the COVID-19 lockdown.

On Friday it was announced that LA County was entering Phase 2 of the reopening of businesses from this lockdown; apparently two breweries, San Pedro Brewing Company and Scholb Brewing had been chomping at the bit waiting for permission to reopen as they were the first two craft beer establishments to begin in-house consumption of beer and food. I decided to visit the two of them to see how close my expectations were to our new reality. Continue reading

Brouwerij West 4th Anniversary Photos

These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at Brouwerij West in San Pedro, where the production brewery celebrated their fourth anniversary. The event included new beer releases, food trucks and live music.

Saturday was a very busy day in the South Bay with can releases, a soft open, and the Brouwerij West 4th Anniversary celebration. Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out how to be in multiple places at the same time, so I have to settle for being at one event at a time. To accomplish this I begin at the event furthest from my home and work my way back. That means I had to start at Brouwerij West first, which meant I got there long before the live music began.
