4th Annual South Bay Tap Takeover, Thursday, September 6 at Tortilla Cantina
I hope you saved the date as the 4th Annual South Bay Tap Takeover will be held this Thursday, September 6, at Tortilla Cantina in Torrance. This event will feature 22 local breweries, with more than 40 taps under one roof; not bad considering the first South Bay Tap Takeover started in 2015 with just 10 South Bay breweries. That should give you an idea of just how much the craft beer scene has grown around here.
The event will begin at noon and run until 11:30 PM, with happy hour pricing from noon until 7:00 PM. From 7:00-10:00, live music will be provided by Ashleigh Correa and Rock the Ashbah.
The 22 breweries in attendance include some of the oldest in the South Bay to the newest; the breweries are:
Common Space Brewery
El Segundo Brewing Company
Hermosa Brewing Company
King Harbor Brewing
Los Angeles Ale Works
Phantom Carriage Brewery
Red Car Brewery
Scholb Premium Ales
Smog City Brewing
The Dudes’ Brewing
The Honest Abe Cidery
Three Weavers Brewing
Ximix Craft Exploration
Yorkshire Square Brewery
Zymurgy Brew Works
I am pretty sure that there is at least one of the participants that you have not visited yet, so this will be a good way to try a couple that you have yet to try.
As Tortilla Cantina is a “taco bistro” you can correctly presume that there is Mexican food, with quite a variety of tacos and other dishes available.
Since people always seem to ask, I will be there for a while when they open at noon; and will return around 4:30 for the duration of the event. I suspect the “sweet spot” will be from 4:30 to 8:00.
Since the event is in Torrance, street parking is free as well as in the large parking structure a couple doors south of Tortilla Cantina. Of course, Uber and Lyft are highly recommended.
Tortilla Cantina is located at 1225 El Prado Avenue in Torrance; I hope to see you there at the 4th Annual South Bay Tap Takeover. Cheers!
