These photos were taken Friday morning at Eureka Brewing Company, in Gardena. The reason for my showing up on a Friday morning is that Eureka is participating in the 4th Annual Pink Boots Brew. Essentially, Yakima Chief Hops and the Pink Boots Society come up with a hop blend that breweries can purchase and then create whatever beer they feel like brewing. The Pink Boots Society receives a percentage of the monies spent on the actual purchase of the hop blend itself.
Due to COVID protocols, this year’s blend was chosen via a global virtual hop selection. This year’s blend consists of Cashmere, Ahtanum®, Citra®, Loral® & Sabro® brand hops, creating a blend with tropical, herbal, citrus and woody aromatic qualities.
Since this was a Pink Boots brew, Eureka Brewing let their two female employees, Beertender Morgan and Sales Rep Julianne help out with the brew. They were able to experience fresh wort and the fun of graining out a mash tun.
At the time of this writing, a name for Eureka’s version of the Pink Boots brew had not been decided, however it will be a hazy pale ale and they will can it.
Eureka Brewing Company is located at 13723 1/2 Harvard Place in Gardena; that is one block east of Western at 139th Street. They are open for to-go purchases Monday through Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7:00 PM. Cheers!
