These photos were taken Friday at the inaugural Pasadena Tournament of Roses Sip & Savor, a three-day end-of-year event being held at the Rosemont Pavilion/Jackie Robinson Memorial Field at the Rose Bowl this weekend. The family friendly event celebrates Southern California’s food, wine and craft beer scene. Attendees can try various foods from about 10 restaurants like The Crack Shack, Pez Cantina, and Lucille’s, which you can pair with wine from about 15 wineries, or craft beer from the four breweries representing the Greater Los Angeles area.
The breweries pouring included Firestone Walker’s “sports bar”, complete with TVs so you can watch the game while enjoying one of their brews, Angel City, Alosta Brewing, and recently opened, Highpoint Brewing Company.
We got there fairly early, so it was not very busy, but by the time we left the attendance definitely increased, but it wasn’t anything that caused lines for beer, food, wine or the bathrooms. I suspect Saturday and Sunday will be busier.
There are games for the kids, vendors selling their wares and live music on the center stage. When we were there a Beatle’s tribute band, Hard Day’s Night, and a ska band, Suburban Legends performed. Both were fun bands to watch and listen to. Every day has a different schedule of artists performing.
Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Sip & Savor Pasadena website at https://www.sipandsavorpasadena.com/tickets-tournamentofroses-sipandsavor-pasadena/. The event hours are 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM. The entrance is by parking lot H.
Attendees can also visit the Rosemont Pavilion to watch eight Rose Parade floats being built for such parade participants as Cal Poly Universities, China Airlines, Ohio State and Chipotle. If you want to visit them, the viewing ends at 7:00 PM on Saturday and 5:00 PM on Sunday. Cheers!
