These photos were taken Saturday afternoon, August 10, at Five Point Five Brewing Company in El Segundo, where dozens of their fans gathered to celebrate Five Point Five’s One Year Anniversary. While I was there, the day included raffles, 10+ beers on tap, Micheladas, and hard seltzers; they also had smash burgers from Cuzzi Burger as well as their Pi LA pizzas. As I was leaving I noticed an obvious musician entering, so I am presuming they had music in the evening.
The reason I said there were 10+ beers instead of a more specific number is because their Proud Mary Irish Red came on nitro and CO2, and their anniversary beer, which apparently you had to ask about, was Proud Mary aged in whiskey barrels. I think this option was also available on nitro or CO2; I had the nitro version and it was quite nice. I did not know ahead of time that it was aged in whiskey barrels, but it was pretty obvious after the first sip.
As usual, I got there pretty early in the day but they already had a nice group gathering; part of that was due to a baby shower that was being held there, and the reason for all the food photos that were obviously not smash burgers or pizza.
As an observation, Five Point Five Brewing may be one of the friendliest breweries in the South Bay. I have only been to Five Point Five a couple times when they first opened, and while no one besides the owners and staff know who I am, several customers engaged me in conversation, which I don’t experience that much these days. Of course, the staff at Five Point Five are always smiling and engaging with their customers. One thing is for sure, Five Point Five is definitely a family oriented business, with family flying in from the east coast to help out with the celebration.
It was definitely a fun time and the festivities continue today (Sunday), so if you are looking to escape the heat you might want to consider heading out to El Segundo for some cooler weather and good beer.
Five Point Five Brewing Company is located at 137 Nevada Street in El Segundo. They are open Monday-Thursday from 3:30 to 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from noon to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from noon to 8:00 PM. They have a couple brews canned to-go, and offer crowlers for all their brews.
Congratulations to Jeremy and his entire family on their success; cheers!
