These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, in Long Beach, where Craft Beer LB held their 3rd Annual Craft Beer LB Homebrew Invitational. The event featured a homebrew competition, a pro brewers area, food trucks, and live music. A portion of the proceeds from the event went to benefit the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site.
The Pro Brewers Lounge provided beers from Altar Society Brewing, Beachwood Brewing, Cheech & Chong, Cycling Frog, Ficklewood Ciderworks, ISM Brewing, La Jara Brewing, Long Beach Beer Lab, Syncopated Brewing & Ten Mile Brewing. There were 40 homebrewers competing, with the winner getting to brew their recipe at Long Beach Beer Lab. Food was available from Shady Grove BBQ, Leaf Over Beef, and Torisho.
I am not really sure what kind of deal with the devil Dennis has, but even though all indicators pointed to a cold and wet Saturday it wasn’t bad at all. There was even a couple times that I felt overdressed with my hoodie over a long-sleeved shirt.
Like previous years, the Craft Beer LB Homebrew Invitational is a combination of a homebrew competition and a festival celebrating craft beer. If you have never attended the event, don’t let the idea of amateur homebrewers dissuade you. There were several competitors in attendance that if you did not know they were amateurs, you would never guess it. Besides brewing some pretty good beer, several of these guys had all the swag (coasters, pins, etc.) that you would expect to find at a brewery’s booth. In addition, the winner of the competition gets to brew their recipe at Long Beach Beer Lab.
There were BJCP qualified judges, and there was a People’s Choice Award, with each attendee getting to cast two votes for their favorite brews. The BJCP winner is the one who gets to brew with Long Beach Beer Lab.
So, with no further ado, the winners of the Judge’s Choice Award are:

So yeah, it was another fun Saturday in the park. Congratulations to Dennis of Craft Beer LB, all the vendors, volunteers, and brewers for putting on another great event. I look forward to seeing you around. Cheers!
