These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at Smog City Brewing Company, in Torrance, where hundreds of friends, family, and fans gathered to celebrate Smog City’s 13th Anniversary. If you have ever attended a Smog City anniversary celebration in the past, you know that this was another very fun event.
I was there for the early portion of the event, which featured axe throwing for adults, and kids, as well as numerous food trucks/popups, pie throwing for charity, live music, the release of their 13th Anniversary IPA, and a special guest, my new dog, Roxy.
The axe throwing was interesting as they provided not only two types of throwing axes (who knew?), but they had throwing stars and even playing cards. The cool thing was the axe throwing they had for kids. Be prepared for when they grow up as they are armed and did better than I at throwing axes.
You may recall that in the past Smog City would have a dunk tank set up as a fundraiser for 1% for the Planet partners, Parks California, The Bay Foundation, and Food Forward. Attendees could buy tickets, good for three throws, and toss shaving cream filled pies at their favorite Smog City employee.
Live music was provided by local favorites, the Chris & Rizz Band. Food was provided by Cakes by Chante, Geeviche, and at least one other guy selling meats. Sadly I did not see a sign and I could not get close enough to talk to them because the meat was pretty low to the ground and far too enticing for Roxy.
As expected, it was another fun event. Congratulations to Porter, Laurie, and the entire Smog City staff on 13 great years and another fun event. Roxy said she had a great time and was happy to meet all of you. Cheers!
