These photos were taken Saturday afternoon and evening, when my friend Joe, aka Dastardly Brews, and I ventured out to Inglewood to attend Three Weavers Brewing 10th anniversary celebration. Before the day ended we had worked our way over to Tortugo Brewing for their annual Mahalo Days Luau celebration and ended up at Cellador Ales in Torrance, where they were celebrating their 8th anniversary.
The Three Weavers anniversary just reminded me how fast time flies; I mean how the heck have they been around for ten years already? Anyway, the anniversary celebration featured food from Battambong BBQ as well as treats from a couple other Cambodian vendors. While we were there, music was provided by DJ Quatre Cinq. Naturally, like any decent anniversary party, the day included specialty beer and seltzer releases, including Decennium, their double IPA anniversary beer.
After a couple hours Joe mentioned that he had only been to Tortugo Brewing once or twice and since we were already in the general vicinity, it was decided that we would pop over there to see what was happening.
To the surprise of both of us, Tortugo was having their annual Mahalo Days Luau which meant they were roasting a whole pig and offering Hawaiian-inspired plates, including a pork plate, pulled pork tacos, macaroni salad, Hawaiian slaw and Cuban sandwiches. They also had live music to keep the island vibes going all day.
Of course, you cannot have all that without including a few tiki beer releases. I partook of their Tiki Flight which was made up with their Mai Tai PA, Hurricane, Island Time, Caught in the Rain, Painkiller, and Mai Tai Seltzer with Passion Fruit Foam. Hurricane and Painkiller were my favorites, while Joe seemed to gravitate to the Island Time.
I had not visited Tortugo in a while, but it was pretty obvious things have been growing around there as they had several new fermenters and their own canning line; so congratulations to them on that.
After Joe finished his tacos and beer we decided to head to Torrance and Cellador Ales where they were celebrating their 8th anniversary.
The event featured $5.00 pours, guest taps, ice cream floats and a cellar sale. Apparently there was cake too, but I missed that part.
If you are into sours, I highly recommend Cellador Ales as probably having the best selection in the South Bay and beyond. If you are thinking there in no way that Cellador Ales could be eight years old now, remember that they were six years old when they relocated to Torrance in February of 2023. They seem to be doing pretty well since they moved here.
Congratulations to Three Weavers Brewing Company, Tortugo Brewing, and Cellador Ales on their success, and thanks to Joe for accompanying me to the three venues; it made for a fun Saturday. Cheers!
