These photos were taken Saturday afternoon at the Smog City Brewing Company brewery and tasting room in Torrance where Smog City celebrated 12 years of brewing beer. The event featured multiple food trucks/popups, live music, a charity dunk tank, raffles, games and an anniversary beer to accompany the other 26 brews that were on the menu.
It is no secret that Smog City Brewing knows how to throw an anniversary party, and Saturday was no exception. Food was available from Pasta Selvatica with their handmade pasta created before your eyes, Proudly Serving was back with their delicious smash burgers, and All About the Cinnamon with their hip-hop influenced cinnamon rolls. Buddha Boy Tacos was setting up as I was leaving, so I am not exactly sure what else was available during the evening portion of the event.
While I was there, live music was provided by the popular South Bay band, The Chris and Rizz band. The schedule shows that there was a second act, but I had left by the time they started, so I have no clue who it was.
The ever popular dunk tank returned, with tickets giving you a chance to dunk your favorite Smog City staff member and entered you into a raffle. The proceeds went to Parks California, The Bay Foundation, and South Coast Botanic Garden.
Of course, is any brewery anniversary really complete without an anniversary beer? Of course not, and Smog City did not disappoint, with their 12th Anniversary Double IPA complimenting the other 21 brews gracing their tap list and the five specialty pours.
One of the most amazing things about the event is how Smog City was able to arrange for the event to be held on the day with the best weather we have had since sometime in 2022 (no exaggeration).
Lots of breweries suggest they are “family friendly” or “dog friendly” but talk is cheap and Smog City proves it on a regular basis. From the Porter’s own 13 year-old son, to the eight week old making her first visit to Smog, it is obvious that they are family friendly. The wide variety of puppies of all shapes and sizes made me miss Buddy, but it was nice to be able to interact with them.
Congratulations to the entire Smog City Brewing Company team on 12 years of brewing fine beers and for putting on another fun event. Cheers!
