Photos from the 2nd Annual LB Sake Day

These photos were taken Saturday, October 5 at Rancho Los Cerritos Historical Site in Long Beach, where Craft Beer LB and Sake Secret collaborated to celebrate World Sake Day by hosting the Second Annual LB Sake Day. For those wondering, World Sake Day is actually held annually on October 1 and celebrates the start of the annual rice harvest and the beginning of sake production in Japan.

Saturday’s event featured literally gallons of sake, from numerous brewers and distributors, several food trucks and popups serving Japanese foods and snacks, Orion beer, and a traditional Japanese performing arts ensemble. It was another lovely day in Long Beach, and all the attendees and vendors seemed to be having a great time.

Sake was poured by the presidents of Kondo Shuzo, Takeda Shuzo, Sake High!, Moon Bloom, Kuncho, and several other exporters, importers, and distributors.

Japanese food options were provided by Drinking Buddy Snacks (imported gourmet rice crackers), Smokmoc Yakitori (Authentic Japanese chicken skewers), Kagura (Katsu Sando and more), Torisho (Karaage-Japanese fried chicken), Wagyu Street (Authentic Japanese Wagyu dishes), and Sushi Wabisabi Oasobi (premium Sushi hand rolls). Those of you that read my article from their inaugural event might recall that I said all they were missing was the sushi; well, that has been resolved.

Musical entertainment was provided by The Wagaku Collective; to say they were entertaining would be quite the understatement.

I know sake is not craft beer but it is definitely craft. They do not typically sell as many tickets for the sake fest as they would a beer festival, and that is probably a good thing because attendees want to talk about the sake and that could make for some long lines. If you have the opportunity, I would try to attend the next one.

Congratulations to Dennis, Greg, all the staff and vendors on putting on another fun event. Kanpai!
