2nd Annual South Bay Beer & Wine Festival Coming May 3

A beautiful outdoor venue

I recently crossed paths with Beer Paper L.A.’s head writer and man-about-town, Daniel Drennon, who suggested that I might want to help promote the upcoming South Bay Beer & Wine Festival that is going to be held at the South Coast Botanical Garden in Rancho Palos Verdes. I had seen flyers posted at various tasting rooms around town, but it was not until I visited the South Bay Beer & Wine Festival website that I realized what a great event was being planned literally right up the street from me.

The 2nd Annual South Bay Beer & Wine Festival is hosted by Toyota and South Bay Equity Lending and sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of El Segundo, Palos Verdes Peninsula, and South Bay Sunrise. Proceeds from this event will go to support the humanitarian programs of the El Segundo Rotary Club, Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club, and South Bay Rotary Club. The Rotary Club supports community programs focused on health and nutrition, high school Interact and leadership, education and literacy, vocational training, and community space restoration and renovation. They also support international projects such as worldwide eradication of polio, clean water projects, and wheelchair purchases and distribution.

As far as the breweries that are scheduled to be there, well, take a look: Absolution Brewing, Anchor Brewing, Artifex, Avery, Ballast Point, Beach City Brewery, Beachwood, Bottle Logic, Drake’s, The Dudes’, Einstok, El Segundo Brewing, Firestone Walker, Golden Road, Hangar 24, Ironfire Brewing, King Harbor Brewing, Mission Brewery, New Belgium, Phantom Carriage, Pizza Port Brewing, Red Car Brewery, Saint Archer, San Pedro Brewing, Sierra Nevada, Smog City, Stone Brewing, Strand Brewing, Tenaya Creek and Three Weavers will all be providing brews to sample.

Come enjoy the day while supporting your local Rotary Club

If wine is more your thing, several wineries will also be there; including Costa de Oro Winery, Cuatro Dias Winery, Estrella Creek Wines and Joseph Filippi Winery.

Since it would be irresponsible to have all this beer and wine with no food to soak it up with there will be more than 20 food vendors providing snacks, all included in the price of admission. Some of the food vendors include Rock & Brews PCH, Silvio’s Brazilian Barbeque, King Shabu Shabu, Ragin’ Cajun Cafe, The Good Cookies & Beyond, Marsatta Fancy Chocolates and many more. You can view all the participants here; they seem to have something for everyone.

This festival is a little different than most I have attended in that children will be allowed in. Kids 11 and under are free and everyone else that is under 21 can get in for $20.00 each. This might be a great time to break your teen drivers in and let them be your designated driver. Tickets for everyone else are $65.00.

I did try to get a discount code for my readers but since beer, wine and food are all included in the price of admission and there were be a limit of about 500 tickets sold combined with the fact that the proceeds will all go to the Rotary Club it was decided that there was sufficient value for everyone to have a good time while doing something positive for the community at the same time. You can purchase your tickets online at https://endurancecui.active.com/event-reg/select-race?e=13784953.

There will also be live music and a silent auction. South Coast Botanic Garden is located at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, Palos Verdes Peninsula, and the festival will run from 1:00-5:00 PM. Please visit http://www.sbbeerwinefest.com/ for more information; I hope to see you there. Cheers!
