Smog City Brewing Celebrates 4th Anniversary

These photos were taken Saturday at Smog City Brewing Company where several hundred of Smog City’s fans gathered to help Jonathan and Laurie Porter celebrate four years of brewing at their Torrance location.

It has been a lot of fun watching Smog City grow since their soft open; not only in the number of beers and styles that they turn out, but the massive growth of the brewery itself and the fact that they now have their satellite SteelCraft location in Long Beach. If you look at the photos of the brewery from the soft open the brewery and tasting room were vast; compare it to the photos from Saturday and you can see that it has almost become a forest of stainless steel. According to Jonathan, there is even more to come.

In true Smog City fashion, the anniversary celebration was loaded with selections from four different pouring stations, featuring close to 30 different beers and beer cocktails. Naturally, the main tap station included such Smog City favorites as Sabre-Toothed Squirrel, Hoptonic, Little Bo Pils and Coffee Porter; which were joined by specialties like their 2017 anniversary beer, Pinkies Out, Beta Blend and Little Bo Michelada.

Back by the brewhouse they set up the Hop Spot which featured 630 to Yakima, MyTai IPA, Steelcraft IPA and 522 to Yakima.

In the adjoining unit, the Mood Maestros, Cesar and Mike, provided soothing tunes while attendees enjoyed the Experimental Sour Station, with options like the 2016 Incurable Optimist, Bluet, and Mad Nuggets. The DJ station provided access to the 2014 Anniversary Saison, Spittin’ n Cussin’ and the anniversary beer cocktail, Spicy Tango.

Food was provided by South Bay favorites, Barley Hops Grill.

It was a fun event and it is pretty obvious that the Porters truly appreciate their fan base, and the feeling is obviously mutual. Congratulations to Jonathan, Laurie and the entire Smog City family. I look forward to seeing what the next year brings. Cheers!
